Laser Alignment is a small company established in 1987. Our intention was to establish what was then, a new technology into the South African engineering market. Laser Alignment was the first independent company to purchase Laser alignment equipment in South Africa.

Our client base is now very wide & diversified, ranging from Anglo American Mines, De Beers, Holcim Cement, PPC Cement, Lafarge Gypsum, Billiton Group, SAB, ESKOM to Denel Aviation. Our experience varies in aligning motors of 10 mW to <0.75kW, Steam & Gas turbines, with operating speeds varying from 27 000 r.p.m. to 3 r.p.m. We have set up Kilns in conjunction with Universal Rigging & Moving at Rhovan & Inca Lime, also aligned a kiln for Vanchem. Laser Alignment will work anywhere on the African Continent.

We have Balanced and Laser Aligned fans and conveyor drives at most of the ESKOM Power Stations.

We are approved contractors to the Howden Group of companies for both Laser Aligning and Fan Balancing.

Apart from conventional Laser Alignment of rotating couplings, we are able to align a diverse range of machines such as:

  • The setting up of Kilns of up to 110 meters long, and their trunnion rollers, bottle feeders on SAB bottle washing plants & wire drawing lines at Scaw Metals.
  • Steel coil Uncoilers & Recoilers
  • Paper Uncoilers & Recoilers
  • Paper Mill rolls
  • Conveyor pulleys
  • Large Screw conveyors
  • Ship propeller shafts
  • Engine crank case bearing pockets
  • Laser Aligning of Head Gear Sheave Wheels to obtain the correct ‘Fleet’ angles’
  • Gas Turbine Generator Sets
